Trip to Mangalore to attend a marriage
Trip to Mangalore (Takkod, a place near mudbidri) to attend a friend marriage was very nice and awesome.
Day 1:
My trip started from Bangalore with a friend, we reached majestic at around 10 PM, and bus was at 11.30 so we had around one and half hour time to freak out, we did pet pooja very lightly in the mean time.
11.30 PM: as soon as our journey started, i inserted cotton plugs to my ears and wear a monkey cap along with my thick skinned jacket, will tell u the reason why the cotton plugs and the monkey cap that's just because to escape from my friend's generator like "SNORING". Will tell u in-detail about this later.
2.30 AM: Driver stopped the bus in mid-way and I did peep out to check why it stopped and I saw another bus punctured in front of us. So our bus driver generously helped them to fix the problem and then we started moving. But then my friend was having a sound sleep with heavy snoring as usual he was least disturbed :)
6.30 AM: Bus reached to Dharmastala and we got down there and further we boarded another bus heading to Belthangadi.
7.30 AM: We reached Belthangadi, and I happened to see a bus near the bus stand with name board Moodbiri, I enquired the driver about the departure time and he said "Mukkalu", I didn't quite understand, so I asked him again , he gave a weird look and said "yellu mukkalu"( 7.45 AM), I sensed that he was in a bad mood and I decided to add more to it :) ..I disturbed him again and asked what time will it reach to Gantalakatte, he said "8.50" in a furious tone ; )
Bus started exactly @ 7.45, i observed one good thing in the bus,The Ladies seats are strictly for ladies only, even though these seats are empty no one will sit on this.I remembered the Bangalore BMTC bus culture, hmm thought that people here are well disciplined.
8.50 AM: We were quite surprised, as the bus reached the place exactly @8.50 i have no words to say about the punctuality, I was amazed.
9.30 AM: We got into an auto near the bus stand and we reached Takkod. My friend and their family members welcomed us very nicely and asked us to have breakfast. As always I am the first, when it comes to food and drink, so took shower in 15 minutes and waited for my friend to get ready.
For breakfast traditional "Idli" was the only thing in the menu, with both veg and nonveg curry, and i choose veg curry, Idli was good but not hot.:)
A lady also joined with us on the dining table and she introduced herself as my friend's aunty, and said she was preparing "Thanks-giving" note, Out of curiosity, I saw the script, it was written in kannada, as i tried to read that, it was konkani, i had no clue what i was reading so i stopped reading :) and asked her to explain what is it all about, she started explainging for next 30min, after that i got bored i guess even she :)
I checked for my friends and there was no one around and I enquired the same lady, she said all are been to Modbidri to bring some stuff, after an hour an auto came in, and my friend shouted and said plz help us in unloading. I was shocked when i saw the things inside auto, the whole auto was loaded with hot drinks, i thought these is more than enough to serve the whole of bangalore :) and I helped them to unload the stuff.
Untill late evening we decorated the house, as there was an event called ROGE, meantime we had big glass full of coffee.
8.00 PM: ROGE event started, this is nothing but, Pure coconut milk bath for the bride groom. as i was new to this kind of marriage i started clicking photos of everything. Meantime they served beer and hot drinks.
9.30 PM: As the event got over, they played some fabolous konkani music, for that everyone started dancing and we joined them, it went till 12.00 and i was totally exhausted by that time. I slept at 1.00
Day 2:
Next day morning i woke up at 8 and had a power packed breakfast - Ten Neer dosas with coconut chutney with a cup of coffee and got ready by 9.00
10.00 AM; Reached church and took part in prayers and all other traditional events, enjoyed konkani music for about 2 hours.
1.30 PM ; It was time for lunch, they arranged both veg and nonveg dishes, we had a stumptous veg lunch and a mouth-watering ice cream.
2.30 PM: I was feeling sleepy after heavy lunch and I went and sat in a corner of the hall, after few minutes there was an announcement for the dance for the same konkani music. I was thinking after heavy lunch how could someone dance? but people pulled me to the dance floor.I danced till my legs started paining, may be we danced around 2 hours.
6.30 PM: I packed my bag, and one of my friend's cousin dropped us till Beltangadi, and we took a bus from there to reach Mangalore.
8.00 PM: As soon as we reached Mangalore we stared searching booking counter, but this time we didnt get the tickets, then we searched with private service providers and we got tickets. But the departure was at 11.30 PM and we had no choice left :)
8.30 PM: We had our dinner in a hotel, close to bus stand. Even then, we had around 2 hours of waiting time, so we decided to roam around and entered Bharath Mall, which was located very close to bus stand, and I purchased a "Bhagavadgita" in one of the book shop.
